Bentonville

We took a quick trip to Bentonville this weekend to see the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.  This museum was brought about by Alice Walton, daughter of Sam Walton (founder of Walmart) and has several well-known pieces, and plenty of amazing not-so-well-known pieces.
In case you're wondering, no, our children do not enjoy art museums.  But Ed and I do, and the girls were kind enough to play along (thanks to a bribe of the hotel pool).

I came back after perusing an exhibit to where the girls were resting and was told by Ed that there was a discussion going on about whether the piece in front of us was a girl or a boy.  Ed left me to settle the argument.
We took a quick break out on the patio,
and then in the "Create" studio.
This wax figure creeped out the girls.

At least there were a few pieces that held their interest.
The whole reason we went this weekend was to see the Norman Rockwell exhibit that would end on Monday.  He's one of my favorites.  Apparently the rest of Arkansas had the same idea - the place was packed.  But we worked our way in and the girls liked all his Saturday Evening Post covers.  Rosie the Riveter is part of the museum's permanent collection - we couldn't take pictures of the exhibit.

Of course then we fulfilled our promise of a yummy dinner and time in the hotel pool.

The next morning we took a walk around the museum trails.  Beautiful.

Afterwards was more pool time, lunch at a yummy deli and then home.  It was a quick trip, but I'm so glad we went.  Knocked that item off our bucket list.

You're girls are impressive! I'd never be able to take my boys to a grown-up museum!
