This is the official "Welcome to Okinawa" elf. This weird little guy is all over the island posed in various ways. A couple days ago I saw him playing a ukelele.
And there's the fun park. Lots to climb on, very secluded and green, and even a roller slide. The kids were in heaven.
We had a lot of fun this last weekend. Ed actually had the whole time off (except for his last SCUBA certification dive) and we went exploring again. On Saturday we went to Zanpa Beach. We were the only Americans there even though it's not far from the base. We got a couple of stares, and we even had some girls from Tokyo taking pictures of our kids, but the beach was beautiful and we had a good time. Kimberlee asks to go to the beach every day (Keira keeps asking to go to the "pool," which, translated, means she doesn't want to go in the ocean). I'm afraid our oldest will go through withdrawals when we leave here.
That evening we went to Ichiban Tei, a Kaiten sushi restaurant - that means the sushi is placed on a conveyor belt and you pick what you want as it passes you. The price is based on the color of the plate the sushi is on. At the end of the meal they count up your plates and you pay your bill. It was a lot of fun! Not the best sushi Ed has had (he's a lot more experienced in this area than I am), but it worked for the craving he was having. And they had some killer egg rolls.
On Monday some friends in the branch invited us to lunch and to a park. The restaurant was about an hour away, and quite the adventurous drive (the previous video should explain a little - we were certain that the guy leading our caravan was just taking us into the woods to kill us and take our money, this place was THAT out-of-the-way), but it was worth it. The place was called Pizza in the Sky. It's on top of a mountain (hence the crazy drive) with a great view. The pizza had corn and some meat that looked like sliced hot dogs, but it was really good (what's not to love about corn on pizza?).

You know, I've never heard of the last name Boyd until I married Boyd. People down here always think his first name is Law and his last name is Boyd. Law? What kind of a first name is Law?

I must agree with Nancy. Your outfit looks great! You know, that "Elf" could stand to learn a thing or two about fashion from you. Is that a thong he's wearing? I probably just insulted a whole Island of people....... :)
I think Ed has a thong just like the elf's in his closet. It is great to see y'all are enjoying Japan. Tell the Morgan's and the Boyd's that we said hello. Keep posting pics. They are a lot cooler than Dayton pics.
