Okinawan tombs
I understand a little more now about the tombs that are EVERYWHERE here. They are family tombs, sometimes from both sides of a family. The ashes of family members are placed in urns and then set inside the tomb. The shapes of the tombs are very representative of rebirth. And before I mentioned that the Japanese people have great "respect" for their ancestors; the correct term should have been they "worship" their ancestors. They believe that when their family members die they become gods - they pray to and converse with their ancestors. Imagine Disney's Mulan set in Japan instead of China.
